Our Trip to The Farm
Saturday we drove 4 hours one way to Lavender Spring Ranch. It's near Ruidoso, NM and next to the Capitan Mtns. Jim's former boss from ACH, Cliff and his wife Bess own the ranch. It was a long drive, but the weather finally cleared up for a day and sunny w/ some clouds. Cliff farms many acres and has, corn, beans, black-eyed peas, raspberries, lavender, pumpkins, peppers, etc. The lavender is a big business for them. They sell lavender products, soap, lotions too in their little store on the ranch. I think the best thing we had was homemade lavender lemonade. Delicious! Jim had a raspberry sundae too. It's hard picking raspberries. They are so fragile. (not like the strawberries, Joy). We had to pack them lightly and keep in our ice chest for the ride home. One funny thing was their dog, Patches will chase all the geese into the pond when there's visitors. He did a real good job of keeping the geese away from us!! It was a fun day and the views at the ranch are amazing.
