Dinner at Cassie's house

A night of a beautiful Santa Fe sunset.  Thought I would try some of the grasses that are so abundant around our house. 

We decided to try some morning glories on our porch in pots.  It's working out great, but sure could use some more trellis. I can also see them from my bedroom window in the morning.  I love morning glories.

Some of the beautiful summer flowers.  The roses this year have been prolific.  Guess it's been all the rain.  But, they are still blooming.  This is a French variety and has a great smell. I planted glads for the first time.  The color doesn't do it justice.  It's a beautiful deep maroon.

In Phoenix for my neice Brandie's Wedding

My niece Brandie's wedding.  Some shots of the family.  It was at a beautiful golf course in Phoenix.  What a lovely place and perfect weather.

Cactus and plants in My Dad's neighborhood

These are some of the cactus blooming in my Dad's neighborhood.  What beautiful cactus flowers.  The tall plant is an agave (century plant).  Gorgeous bloom, but they die after the bloom.  The bouganvilla was in full splendor all over Phx. Did you spot the hummingbird at one of the blooms?

Old Town Albuquerque

As Jim & I were heading home yesterday, we stopped at Old Town in Albuquerqe.  I might have been there about 30 years ago.  We were also by the Albuquerque Art Museum which is where a lot of the pictures came from. What a great bunch of architectural elements and textures.  My daughter Cassie would have loved these  and she could have spent hours here taking photos.

Snow Geese Coming in for a Landing

Many years ago we visited Bosque Del Apache with the kids and the sunset show of the Canadian Geese was spectacular.  This recent visit was not very impressive.  Seems like there were a lot less geese and the pond they landed in was too far away to get any good close-ups.  I guess you never know what the animals are going to do.  It was still neat to see them all come in for a landing. They are feeding in the fields during the day and then come to the ponds to sleep at night.The fields are planted with grain specifically for them and the seeds are left behind.   Bosque Del Apache is a wildlife preserve and has a 15mile driving loop.  Lots of short hiking trails too.  Besides geese we saw lots of Sandhill Cranes, 2 bald eagles and 17 deer, and two hawks.
